Boots to Close 300 Branches Across the UK

High-street chain Boots has announced the closure of its pharmacy in Willerby, Hull, as part of its plan to shut down 300 branches nationwide. Although the closure has not been officially confirmed, new managers are reportedly set to take over within the next six months. Staff at the pharmacy will be offered jobs at other Boots outlets.

Residents Urged to Support the Store

Local councilor Gary McMaster is urging residents to continue using the store in order to keep it open. He emphasized the need for a service provider and hopes that by supporting the business, alternative prospective pharmaceutical suppliers will be attracted to the area.

Fewer Branches, Convenient Access

In an effort to prevent staff from being overstretched, Boots plans to close 300 branches near other outlets. However, the company assures customers that four out of five Brits will still have easy access to a Boots within a ten-minute drive. Locations in Wakefield, Glastonbury, and Woking are also expected to close later this month.

Focus on Excellent Service and Updated Stores

Boots states that evolving its store estate in this way will allow the company to concentrate its team members where they are needed most and invest more in individual stores. Their ambition is to consistently deliver an excellent and reliable service in a fresh and up-to-date environment.

Meanwhile, a major bank is also closing 19 branches this month, with some shutting down within hours.
