A beloved bakery chain in the UK is set to close one of its stores in Cwmbran town centre, but there is still hope for hungry shoppers.

Closure of a Favourite Bakery

The popular high street bakery chain, Greggs, has announced the closure of one of its three stores in Cwmbran town centre, Wales.

Regretfully, Welsh shoppers will need to find another place to buy their favorite sausage rolls.

Relocation Plans

However, all is not lost for pasty fans, as Greggs has revealed plans to move to a new location.

Torfaen County Borough Council has granted planning permission for Greggs to occupy a larger unit which was formerly a drapers shop.

The previous tenant, Shaws, closed down in December 2022 due to liquidation.

New Store Details

The new Greggs store will include seating for 20 customers inside and 8 customers outside.

Additionally, the council has allowed the store to operate from 6am to 9pm from Monday to Saturday, and from 6am to 6pm on Sundays.

Bungling Greggs Bosses

In other Greggs news, the bakery chain recently made a humiliating mistake by confusing locations.

A Greggs store in Richmond, Yorkshire was decorated with photos of Richmond, London, causing confusion among customers.

Some customers were met with images of London landmarks, such as Richmond Bridge and the Thames Path, despite being in a completely different city.

Other Bakery Chain Closures

Unfortunately, Greggs is not the only bakery chain facing closures in the UK.

Le Pain Quotidien, another popular bakery chain, has recently gone into administration and closed all but one of its stores, leaving 250 employees without jobs.

Furthermore, after more than 90 years in business, Vanes the Bakers in Dover, Kent, has announced its closure due to the owner's retirement.

This independent retailer, known for its "best biscuits ever," will be missed by its loyal customers.
