Early Payments for Some Households

Several benefits, including Universal Credit, will be paid early for some households this month. Due to the shorter month of February and the leap year, payment dates will be changing for thousands of recipients. This change is similar to when payments are made earlier on bank holidays.

Who Will Be Affected?

Not everyone on benefits will see a change in their payment dates this month. The following benefit recipients will experience a change:

  • Attendance Allowance
  • Carer's Allowance
  • Employment Support Allowance (ESA)
  • Jobseeker's Allowance (JSA)
  • Pension Credit
  • Personal Independence Payment (PIP)
  • State pension
  • Universal Credit
  • Working Tax Credit
  • Child Tax Credit
  • Child Benefit
  • Guardian's Allowance

If your normal payment date is on the 28th of the month or if you receive a State Pension, your payments will not be affected and you will receive your money as usual.

Will the Benefit Amount Change?

The amount you receive will not change, unless there has been a change in your circumstances. Your payments will be the same as in previous months.

However, if you receive your benefits on the 30th or 31st of each month, and do not receive them on the 29th, double-check the date you normally get paid and contact your bank or the DWP if necessary.

Remember, if you do receive your benefits earlier, you will need to budget accordingly to make the money last until your next payment.

Additional Information

If you have any concerns or complaints regarding unpaid benefits, you can contact the DWP for assistance. It is important to ensure you receive the benefits you are entitled to.

Furthermore, there are opportunities for households to claim cold weather payments to help with heating costs this winter. Additionally, thousands of people on Universal Credit may be missing out on extra £5,483 a year. Find out how to claim what you're owed.
