MILLIONS of households with disabilities will get their £150 cost of living payment in just weeks, the Government has announced.

The tax-free cash will be paid directly into bank accounts between June 20 and July 4, the Department for Work and Pensions said.

Millions are set to receive a cost of living payment worth £150 within weeks

In total, six million people will receive the £150 payment to help them with the cost of living.

Mel Stride, secretary of state for work and pensions, said: “This payment helps protect those who need our support the most, providing a vital financial boost to six million disabled people.

“Our multibillion-pound package of support reinforces our commitment to help UK households with the rising cost of living.

“It comes on top of record increases to benefits and the national living wage.”

You have to be receiving certain benefits to qualify for the £150 cost of living payment. These are:

  • Disability Living Allowance
  • Personal Independence Payment
  • Attendance Allowance
  • Scottish Disability Benefits (Adult Disability Payment and Child Disability Payment)
  • Armed Forces Independence Payment
  • Constant Attendance Allowance
  • War Pension Mobility Supplement

A small number of people will see the £150 land in their accounts after July 4.

This will apply if you were awaiting confirmation of your eligibility for the qualifying benefits on April 1.

The £150 payment will be paid directly into eligible people’s banks accounts – you don’t have to apply.

The code to spot in your statement will be your national insurance number followed by “DWP COL”.

Minister for disabled people, health and work, Tom Pursglove MP, added: “We know the cost of living has gone up for disabled people, which is why we are taking action to reduce the financial pressures they face.”

What other help is there?

The £150 comes as part of a bumper package of support announced by the Government including a £900 payment for millions on certain benefits including Universal Credit and a £150-£300 top-up for millions of pensioners.

The £900 payment has been split into three instalments worth £301, £300 and £299.

The first should have already been paid between April 25 and May 17 while the second and third will be paid in autumn 2023 and spring 2024.

The £150-£300 payment will be made to millions of pensioners from November.

The money will come as a top-up if you are eligible for the Winter Fuel Payment this year.

You qualify for this year’s Winter Fuel Payment if you were born before September 25, 1957.

You will be sent a letter in October or November telling you how much your Winter Fuel Payment will be.
