CHRISTMAS is just days away and you need to get a move on if you want to send gifts and cards to arrive in time by post.

Don't Miss the Deadline

The final dates for sending post are approaching and here is what you need to know to have a stress-free holiday season.

Christmas is just around the corner so make sure to send your gifts on time

Don't leave it too late or you might risk not gifting your loved ones by December 25

Millions of people send cards or gifts by post during the festive season.

But don't leave it too late or your package may end up arriving late.

Post Office has revealed its recommended posting dates to send your gifts in time for Christmas.

It comes as a study made by the post service found that around four in 10 won't finish their Christmas shopping until at least the week before Christmas.

Important Dates to Remember

To make sure all your gifts are sent and received on time, Laura Joseph from Post Office listed out the main cutoff dates.

If you want your items to arrive in time for Christmas using standard post, the absolute latest dates you can post are December 18 for 2nd class and December 20 for 1st class.

"But if things have got on top of you and you've missed these dates, we do have Special Delivery Guaranteed and next-day services, moving the very last date to the 22," Laura said.

Anyone choosing to post a parcel via Evri has a final posting date of December 19.

Those opting for DPD Next Day can send their parcels on December 22 and get them for December 23.

But to be safe, the sooner you send out your gifts, the better.

Laura added: "If you can, we really urge you to get your posting done early.

"Our branches are extremely busy this time of year, so if you're posting something that won't fit through a letterbox, the earlier you can head into a branch the better.

"Remember that lots of branches are open late and even over the weekend of December 16/17, and there are over 11,000 nationwide, so you can find a time and branch that meets your needs."

Last Christmas, people had to send their Christmas post sooner than expected this year as the deadline for delivery was brought forward due to strikes.
