Mourned Closure

A major high street brand is set to close one of its stores today, leaving locals in Blackburn, Lancashire in shock. Outdoor clothes shop Trespass will be pulling down the shutters at its outlet in the area.

Store Closure

Last year, Trespass shut down several of its 300-plus stores. Unfortunately, the company has no plans to relocate staff to other nearby stores, according to the Lancashire Telegraph. This news has left many customers disappointed.

Social Media Reactions

On social media, customers expressed their disappointment over the closure of the Blackburn store. One user said, "Oh no, I used to go here a lot." Another chimed in, "I'm just shocked. Can't believe how many store closures are happening in Lancashire."

High Street Closures

In recent years, rising costs and a lack of customers have made it difficult for retail chains to survive. In 2023, popular discount chain Wilko collapsed and was unable to find a buyer. Stationary chain Paperchase also went bust but has re-appeared in certain branches of Tesco. Boots, Poundland, and Jack Wills also closed branches in 2023. According to the British Retail Consortium, 6,000 retail outlets have closed down since 2018.

Future Changes

In 2024, several major retailers are planning to close down some locations. Boots, Costa, Next, and Sports Direct are among those looking to shake up their portfolios. Stay tuned for the full list of shops closing this year, including branches of Argos and WHSmith.
