Fast-food chain KFC has announced plans to open ten new branches in the UK over the next three months, with five set to open before the end of the year and the remaining five in early 2022. This is part of a larger strategy to open up to 500 new KFC restaurants across the country in the long term.

Expansion Plans

KFC is targeting various new locations for its new branches, including two drive-thru restaurants in Reading, a high street store on Edinburgh's Royal Mile, an outlet at Stansted Airport, and drive-thru restaurants in Stratford-Upon-Avon and Stroud. The chain also plans to open drive-thru stores on several A roads, such as the A3 at Cobham, the A64 near Tadcaster, and the A421 between Milton Keynes and Bedford.

The upcoming openings will also include Moto service stations on motorways across the country, stretching from Northumberland in the north to Kent in the southeast.

New Branches

The following new KFC restaurants are planned to open in the next few months:

  • Birch East – December
  • Hilton Park North – December
  • Lancaster North – December
  • Thurrock – December
  • Medway – December
  • Grantham – New Year
  • Southwaite North (Carlisle) – New Year
  • Chieveley – New Year
  • Washington South – New Year
  • Frankley North – New Year

Creating Jobs and Bringing New Menu Items

A spokesperson for KFC expressed excitement about the new openings and the opportunity to bring new jobs to the local communities. In addition to the expansion, KFC has also launched its festive menu for this year, featuring the Stuffing Stacker Burger and the Stuffing Tower Burger.

Customers can find their nearest KFC restaurant using the "find a KFC" tool on the company's website by entering their postcode or nearest town/city.

Other Fast-Food Chains Expanding

KFC is not the only fast-food chain experiencing rapid expansion in the UK. Dunkin' Donuts, a US-based chain, plans to double its branches from 30 to 60 over the next two years. Lounge, a restaurant giant, is also set to open seven new restaurants by January, while bakery giant Greggs aims to open 150 new stores this financial year.
