BARGAIN supermarket Lidl has made a change to its popular loyalty scheme.

Previously customers were offered a £10 coupon if they’ve spent £200 in a month, using the Lidl Plus scheme.

Lidl has made a big shake-up to its loyalty scheme

From today, they will instead be offered 10% off their next shop – up to a maximum of £20 – if they spend £250 in September.

This 10% must be claimed within the same month.

The change means to get the same £10 discount they would have to spend £250, and then a further £100 at Lidl within September – a total of £350.

It means you have to spend more to get a discount.

The supermarket still allows shoppers to collect a free pastry if they spend £50 or a £2 off coupon if they spend £100.

Customers now also get a free W5 cleaning product if they spend £150 a month.

A Lidl spokesman said: “To confirm, the new 10 per cent off coupon has been introduced for a £250 monthly spend milestone, which increases the potential discount for shoppers to a maximum of £20.

“Since the app first launched our discounts and rewards offered have continued to evolve and the latest update also includes an additional free item for £150 monthly spend, allowing more customers to get more rewards, more often.”

Lidl Plus is a virtual rewards card – you have to download Lidl’s free app to get it.

The Plus card app lets you unlock money-off coupons when you reach your spending targets each month.

When these coupons come through in your account, you have seven days to use them, so shoppers need to be quick.

When it’s your birthday you can get a free cookie worth 39p too.

Lidl isn’t the only shop to have made big changes to it’s loyalty scheme.

Sainsbury’s has reduced the number of points customers can earn when paying with one of its credit cards – meaning customers lose out.

While Boots shoppers with an advantage card could see their points balanced wiped, after it slashed the period of time you can go without using your card.
