Forgotten Jackpot
A man from Wales was unable to claim his incredible EuroMillions jackpot after losing the ticket. Dion Davies, 47, had bought the ticket on a whim during a work trip but forgot about it until weeks later when he was cleaning out his car.
Happy Discovery
Preparing for his vehicle to be valeted, Dion stumbled across the £55,086 winning EuroMillions ticket stuck inside his sun visor. He had bought the ticket while starring as the Dame in a Christmas production of Sleeping Beauty.
Valuable Belongings
Dion took his car to be valeted and was asked to remove all his belongings beforehand. Luckily, he found the winning ticket before it could have been thrown away. "I then took it to the Spar shop… and the chap there said I needed to call the number on the back of the final ticket because it was a winner," Dion said.
Fairytale Ending
After confirming his win with The National Lottery, Dion celebrated with his wife and a neighbor over lunch and glasses of fizz. He plans to use the money to take a trip to Italy with his wife and son, as well as attending the international Comic-Con convention in San Diego, USA.
Other Lottery Mishaps
Unfortunately, Dion's story is not unique. Another man lost out on a £3 million lottery jackpot due to a technicality, while a couple who thought they won a £182 million EuroMillions jackpot received a disappointing message from the lottery.
