Martin Lewis, the Money Saving Expert, has a message for everyone with a phone contract: "You're being ripped off." In his ITV show, Lewis exposed phone companies for raising bills above the rate of inflation. But fear not, he also shared his 3-step method to bring your bill down to just £3.50.
Step 1: Are You Free to Leave?
The first step, according to Lewis, is to find out if you are free to leave your contract. Text "INFO" for free to 85075 to check if you are out of contract. You could be one of the 14 million Brits who have the freedom to make a change.
Step 2: Compare Cheap SIM Deals
Next, head to a cheap SIM comparison website to compare different deals. Lewis highlighted TalkMobile, which offers 6GB of data and unlimited texts for just £3.50 a month on a one-year contract. Another option is iD Mobile, which offers a whopping 100GB of data for £7 a month on a one-year tariff.
Step 3: Keep Your Phone Number
Finally, don't forget to keep your phone number after switching contracts. Text PAC to 65075 to receive a code that you can give to your new network. Lewis assured viewers that switching providers won't result in weaker signal, as there are only four mobile networks in the UK and every other company piggy-backs off of them.
By following these three steps, you can significantly reduce your monthly phone bill while enjoying the same signal strength.
