The Extra McSpicy

McDonald's is set to launch its "spiciest ever" burger, the Extra McSpicy, this week. The fast-food giant has collaborated with popular hot sauce brand Frank's RedHot to give its McSpicy a major spice upgrade. After receiving feedback that the original McSpicy was "underwhelming" and "mild," McDonald's hopes that this new addition will satisfy spice fans. The Extra McSpicy will be available in all UK and Ireland restaurants, including drive-thrus and home delivery apps, starting February 7.

A Spice Upgrade

McDonald's made the McSpicy a permanent addition to its menu last year, but it failed to impress fans with its flavor. To address this, the fast-food chain teamed up with Frank's RedHot to add an extra kick to the burger. The usual crispy chicken breast is now topped with RedHot mayo and jalapenos, giving it a spicier and more flavorful profile. Additionally, a slice of Emmental cheese has been added to balance out the heat from the mayo.

Spicy and Flavorful

Early taste tests of the new McSpicy have confirmed that it lives up to its name. The burger is undeniably spicy but not overpoweringly so. The zingy coating on the chicken breast provides a satisfying crunch, and the addition of Emmental cheese helps to offset the spiciness. Sliced jalapenos add an extra kick, while lettuce and Frank's RedHot mayo complement the flavors. Some may find the burger too mild, while others may find it too hot, but for many, it strikes the perfect balance.

Limited-Time Offer

The Extra McSpicy will only be available on menus for six weeks, so fans of spicy food will need to act fast. The burger is priced at £5.59 on its own and £7.29 as part of a meal, which includes fries and a drink. Thomas O'Neil, head of menu at McDonald's UK and Ireland, expressed excitement about the collaboration with Frank's RedHot, stating that it allowed them to create a genuinely spicy and delicious product.
