Søstrene Grene: The Danish Retailer

A lesser-known retailer nicknamed "little Ikea" is set to expand its presence in the UK. Søstrene Grene, a Danish homeware and furniture chain, plans to open more stores on the high street. Founded in 1973 by Inger Grene and Knud Cresten Vaupell Olsen, the brand offers Scandinavian-designed products at affordable prices.

Small Stores, Big Selection

Unlike Ikea's large out-of-town retail parks, Søstrene Grene operates in smaller stores, often located on or near popular high streets. The chain sells a wide range of homeware and furniture, including side tables, desks, shelves, and cabinets – all for under £150. Shoppers can also find kitchenware, gifts, stationary, and other interior furnishings.

Expanding Across the UK

Søstrene Grene currently operates in 11 UK locations, including Wandsworth, Kingston Upon Thames, and Nottingham. The brand plans to open two more stores later this year.

New Locations

The first new store will be located in Victoria Place, Woking. This 4,673 square foot shop will be the first of its kind in Surrey. The second store will open at the Royal Priors Shopping Centre in Leamington Spa.

Affordable and Stylish

Søstrene Grene's products offer both affordability and style. The retailer's prices rival those of Ikea, making it a go-to option for budget-conscious shoppers. However, the store focuses on smaller items, so those in need of larger furniture may need to look elsewhere.

With Søstrene Grene's expansion, high street shoppers will have a new go-to store for affordable Scandinavian homeware and furniture. Stay tuned for the opening dates of the new locations.
