Lounge, a major restaurant chain, is set to add seven new locations to its portfolio of over 200 restaurants around the UK. The group plans to open around 20 Lounges each year in the medium-term. Despite its rapid growth, Lounge has remained relatively low key, with each branch having a unique name and appearance. However, fans of the chain are raving about it, with one review on TripAdvisor stating that it's better than Wetherspoons with just the right vibe.

New Locations and Opening Dates

Here are the towns that will be getting new Lounge locations:

  • Hexham – November 1
  • St Ives, Cambridgeshire – November 15
  • Paignton – end of November
  • Cramlington – end of November
  • Penrith – start of December
  • Caerphilly – end of December
  • Ashby-de-la-Zouch – mid-January

In addition to these new locations, Lounge recently opened branches in Carlisle and Louth earlier this month.

A Unique Dining Experience

While each Lounge branch has its own name and appearance, the menu remains the same across all locations. It offers a wide range of vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free dishes. Fans of the chain have praised its atmosphere and menu variety. To find the nearest Lounge to you, simply use the "find a Lounge" tool on their website.

Expansion Amidst Challenging Times for the High Street

The high street has faced numerous challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the rise of online shopping. Many retailers have closed stores or disappeared from the high street altogether. However, Lounge is among several shops and eateries expanding throughout the UK this year. Other chains such as Patisserie Valerie, Burger King, and Dunkin' Donuts have revealed plans to open new locations and expand their presence in the country.

Bakery chain Patisserie Valerie began reopening branches in August after collapsing into administration in 2019. Burger King aims to open 30 new restaurants by the end of 2023, while Dunkin' Donuts plans to open 30 stores in the next two years. Additionally, US chains Chick-fil-A and Popeyes will be opening their first branches in the UK, with Popeyes launching in November and Chick-fil-A expected to arrive in 2025.
