A man with one of the best-paid jobs in Britain has revealed that he made £145 in just two hours as a self-employed door installer. In a TikTok video, the labourer, known as ttdowg, discussed his earnings after completing a half-day's work.
£145 in two hours
ttdowg explained that he charges £20 per door, except for one door that was £25. With seven doors in total, he made a total of £145. He revealed that the job could have been completed even faster, as it only took him around two hours, including time spent watching TikTok videos. If he had solely focused on the work, he could have finished in just one hour, making £145 for that hour's work alone.
Additional earnings
After the door installation, ttdowg spent another hour boxing in pipes, earning an additional £50. On top of that, he also collects extra money for materials he has at home, bringing his average morning earnings to £210.
High-paying jobs without a degree
The Telegraph reports that door installing is one of the highest-paying jobs in the UK that does not require a degree. The average pay for an entry-level door installer is around £54,667, surpassing many deskbound professions. Other manual jobs with a basic pay above £45,000 include Scaffolders (£48,000) and Pensions Consultants (£51,000).
Andrew Hunter from Adzuna encouraged school leavers to consider non-university paths, stating that the chosen subjects in school may not have a significant impact on entry-level earnings. Instead, it is the skills developed on the job that can lead to higher pay.
