SHOPPERS are rushing to buy a “bargain” Aldi gadget that helps get rid of condensation and mould.

Mould and condensation can spread around the house particularly when temperatures drop in the winter.

Mould can cause serious damage to your home and your own health

The shopper posted her find on Facebook

If left untreated, mould can pose a risk to vulnerable Brits with existing health problems like eczema or asthma.

But one savvy shopper has found a window vacuum from Aldi that costs just £20.

The shopper posted the deal in Facebook’s Extreme Couponing and Bargains group.

She said: “My Karcher broke (outwith it’s two-year warranty)!

“And I came across this in Aldi special buys the other day … £20!

“It’s actually brilliant & has a three-year warranty, would recommend.”

And other shoppers took to the comments to voice their thoughts.

One commented: “I need one!!!”

While another wrote: “I was looking at them today are these good for windows and shower doors with no streaks or is the old fashioned way just as good.”

But one commented with a warning: “Just don’t try using it sideways like you can the Karcher.

“The water tips into the motor.”

The item is cordless and comes with a tank that holds up to 150ml of water.

At the time of writing, the vacuum was out of stock online but it could still be available in Aldi stores.

It’s always worth popping down to your local Aldi to see if you can find it there.

Of course, stock and prices can vary from store to store.

At the time of writing we found the famous Karcher window vacuum for £34.99 at Halfords.

Although depending on the time of vacuum you’re after it can go up to over £200.

Robert Dyas is also selling a similar vacuum for £25.99.

While Aldi’s is the cheapest, it might be wise to weigh up size and read the reviews of each option first, then decide what is best for you.

More tips on reducing mould

We tested out some top hacks for tackling mould to see how effective they are.

Dehumidifiers are a good idea to keep by windows to prevent condensation from collecting – shoppers have even spotted one that costs £50 from Argos.

And they don’t cost much to run either – according to experts at Uswitch, dehumidifiers normally use 185W – so they usually cost about 6p an hour to run.

There’s also the trick of placing salt in a bowl and hoping it catches mould – our reporter Harriet Cooke said it worked quite well.

And, costing at £1.70 for 500g from Tesco, salt isn’t too expensive to buy either.

You can use tools like Google Shopping to compare prices, or download the Latest Deals app to search items and find where they’re cheaper.

We found the same mould blaster spray for £1 at Poundland and £1.19 at B&M and Asda.

We found a similar mould and mildew spray by Astonish on sale for just 95p in Wilko.

Dettol also does a similar item, but for the more expensive price of £3.50.

You could also try damp traps, which works by soaking up condensation in the air.

You can hang them them up in your wardrobe or cupboard and let them sit.

They usually cost a few pounds on average, but shoppers have found the perfect one for just £1 from Poundland.

HOAR recently tried supermarket mould cleaners – and found that one 25p solution was better than Cillit Bang.
