The Range, a rival discount retailer, has reintroduced a popular Wilko item to its stores, much to the delight of fans who claim it is even cheaper than the original. The acquisition of Wilko's name and intellectual property by The Range means that the brand will continue to live on, even as Wilko's shops close for good. Shoppers have already spotted Wilko products in The Range stores, with cleaning products starting at just £1.49.

Shoppers express their excitement

After The Range shared a picture on Facebook showcasing its selection of Wilko cleaning products, shoppers were quick to share their enthusiasm. One shopper commented that the products were cheaper than when Wilko sold them, while another expressed their joy at seeing the Wilko name in stores. A third shopper simply said, "Omg the full range."

Store locations and opening dates confirmed

CDS Superstores, the parent company of The Range and Wilko, recently announced its plans to relaunch the chain at various locations across England, Scotland, and Wales. The company has now confirmed the locations and opening dates for its first three stores, with plans to recruit up to 80 local team members per store. The new shops will offer a range of value items, from cleaning and household products to garden and outdoor supplies.

Wilko.com returns under The Range's ownership

Earlier this month, Wilko.com made a comeback under The Range's ownership. Wilko branded items are now being stocked in The Range stores, with concessions opening inside all 210 shops. This move provides customers with access to a wide range of popular Wilko products.

Future store launches and re-openings

CDS Superstores has stated that additional store launches and re-openings will be announced throughout 2024, ensuring that the Wilko brand continues to serve customers across the UK. The company aims to provide easy access to everyday home and garden items while creating employment opportunities for local families and communities.

Remaining Wilko stores find new owners

Following Wilko's administration in August, the retailer's brand name and intellectual property were sold to The Range in a £5 million deal. This saved 36 jobs as employees transferred over to The Range. Other rival chains, such as Poundland and B&M, also stepped in to purchase a number of Wilko stores, ensuring that the brand and its products continue to be available to customers.
