New Security Measures for Dunelm's Classy Bedding Sets

Home furnishing retailer Dunelm is fighting back against the rising cases of shoplifting in the UK by locking up their most luxurious bedding sets. Instead of being openly displayed, the posh duvets and pillowcases are now stored in pin-protected cabinets, requiring customers to request assistance from staff in order to access them.

Shoppers Express Surprise at Locked Cabinets

Customers, like Suzie Morris, were taken aback to find rows of locked cabinets at Dunelm's branch in Bournemouth, Dorset. Suzie remarked, "I popped into Dunelm and I couldn't believe my eyes. All of the shop's Dorma duvet covers and pillowcases were locked away." Dunelm has the exclusive rights to sell Dorma bedding ranges, with prices starting at £16 and luxury duvets going for as much as £230.

Increase in Shoplifting Offences Across England and Wales

According to the Office of National Statistics, shoplifting offences in England and Wales have risen by 24% in the past year, prompting Dunelm to take drastic action. This security measure has been implemented in approximately half of their 177 stores countrywide.
