Cheese is a Christmas staple, but with so many options available, which supermarket offers the best one? We tested the Christmas cheese selections from Tesco, Asda, Morrisons, and Sainsbury's to find out which one is worth your money.
Tesco Family Cheese Selection
The Tesco selection included four disc-shaped cheeses. The Double Gloucester had a powerful onion and chive taste, while the Wensleydale with apricots was creamy with lots of fruit. However, the Wensleydale with cranberries had a dry texture and overly sweet fruit, and the smoked cheddar had a paste-like consistency. Overall, this selection scored 13 out of 20.
Asda Classic Cheese Board
The Asda selection contained five mild and creamy cheeses, including blue stilton, red Leicester, mature cheddar, Wensleydale with cranberries, and brie. While it offered lots of choice, the cheddar and brie were pretty bland. At £1.40 per 100g, this selection scored 12 out of 20.
Morrisons Seasonal Cheese Selection Pack – The Winner!
Morrisons' festive cheese board impressed us with its high-quality cheeses, including mature cheddar, Long Clawson blue stilton, red Leicester, Wensleydale with cranberries, and brie. The only downside was the slightly bland cheddar. This selection scored 15 out of 20 and is worth the extra pennies at £1.44 per 100g.
Sainsbury's Festive Cheese Selection
The Sainsbury's selection included four disc-shaped cheeses in onion, smoked cheddar, chive, and cranberry flavors. Despite their unappealing appearance, the cheeses were surprisingly tasty. The cranberry version was the only disappointment. This selection scored 14 out of 20 and is one of the cheapest at £1.39 per 100g.
So, if you're looking for the best Christmas cheese, Morrisons is the winner with its high-quality selection. However, if you're on a budget, Sainsbury's offers a tasty option at a lower price. Happy cheesing!
