Bargain high street chain Wilko has announced that its stores will remain closed on Boxing Day to give its staff a well-deserved break. Under the ownership of The Range, Wilko will close its stores in Luton, Plymouth, and Exeter on December 25th and 26th, with plans to reopen on December 27th. The decision was announced on Facebook, and despite being made just five days ahead of Boxing Day, it has been met with approval from shoppers.

Putting Staff First

It is unusual to see stores closed on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day, making Wilko's decision to give its staff an additional day off even more noteworthy. Shoppers have praised The Range for appreciating its new Wilko staff and have called for more stores to follow suit. Aldi is also closing its doors on both Christmas Day and Boxing Day, while Majestic, a major wine retailer, is giving its staff an extra day off on January 2nd in addition to Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

Retailers' Opening Hours May Vary

It is important to note that retailers' opening hours during the festive period may vary due to bank holidays. It is always worth checking the specific opening hours for each branch.
