Tory MP accuses HS2 chiefs of wasting public money

HS2 rail bosses have come under fire for spending money on an inclusivity document and training sessions on "unconscious bias". Despite concerns over escalating costs, the document reveals that coaching lessons on conscious inclusion and bullying were set up for HS2 staff.

Escalating costs alarm PM Rishi Sunak

Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is reportedly concerned about the rising costs of the HS2 project and is said to be considering canceling part of it. The revelation of spending on woke inclusivity training is likely to further fuel the debate over the project's budget.

HS2 counting number of LGBTQ+ staff

The document also shows that HS2 bosses have been counting the number of LGBTQ+ staff employed by the organization. Currently, around four percent of workers identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans or questioning, with eight percent of bosses on Phase 2 of the project also identifying as LGBTQ+.

Critics slam spending and project's full cost

Critics, including Tory MP Greg Smith and Labour peer Lord Berkeley, have accused HS2 chiefs of wasting public money. Smith described the spending on woke training as a "huge slice of woke pie," while Lord Berkeley claimed that the full cost of the project is closer to £180 billion.

HS2 defends inclusivity efforts

In response to the backlash, HS2 Ltd stated that it is important to maintain high standards to ensure a safe and supportive work environment for all employees.
