Senior Labour MP Chris Bryant allegedly told the Commons Speaker to ‘f* off’ in the House

The senior Labour MP, who vehemently denies swearing, has offered to make a public apology after the bust-up that interrupted Boris Johnson at Prime Minister’s Questions.

Mr Bryant last night said: “I’m mortified by all of this and wish it hadn’t happened. I didn’t use un-Parliamentary language.

“I’m very keen to make an apology to the House for effectively challenging the authority of the Speaker.”

Hoyle had slapped down Mr Bryant for breaching social distancing rules and asking him to move position.

The incident took place as Boris Johnson spoke during PMQs on Wednesday when he was carpeted for standing too close to fellow MPs.

Hoyle wanted him to move elsewhere but Bryant threw his hands in the air and allegedly said, ‘Oh, f*** off’’, an MP claimed.

But one source said: “Chris is adamant he didn’t swear. There are MPs and doorkeepers who would attest to that, they’re trying to make mischief.

“The words are immaterial. There was an altercation between Chris and the Speaker which got in the way of business. An apology was offered then but he got no reply.”
