Glorifying baby-slaughtering Hamas terrorists could land Brits in prison for 14 years, Rishi Sunak warned today.
Crackdown on Pro-Palestine Activists
On a visit to a North London secondary school, the PM pledged to do whatever it takes to protect Britain's Jewish community from pro-Palestinian activists who sympathise with rapists and killers.
Symbol of Terror
It comes after Palestine protestors this weekend sticky taped pictures of paragliders onto their backs.
The symbol glorifies sick terrorists who just over a week ago swooped into Israeli villages by air and went on to butcher babies and take innocent women and children hostage.
Tough Consequences
Rishi Sunak addressed students at the Jewish school and said, "Hamas is a proscribed terrorist organisation, it's very clear under the law, the support and glorification of Hamas is illegal, and those offences are punishable with up to almost 14 years in jail."
"But it's not just about Hamas, more broadly actions that incite violence or stir up religious hatred and racial violence are also not acceptable."
Protecting the Jewish Community
The PM added that ministers are doing "everything in our power" to keep the Jewish community safe.
CST, a Jewish community security organisation, said there's been a shocking 300% increase in antisemitic incidents in the UK since Hamas launched its terror attack on Israel.
Since October 7 at least 190 anti-Jewish racist attacks have taken place.
Last week the PM hiked CST funding by £3m in a major government effort to protect British Jews from racist attacks.
Support and Humanitarian Concerns
Mr Sunak said, "I know it's an anxious time for many families who will have loved ones who are impacted or missing."
"We're providing all the consular support through the Foreign Office that we can and also providing direct support to the Israelis."
"And the humanitarian situation is one which of course we're concerned about, and that I've raised in all the calls and interactions I've had with other leaders from across the region."
The PM added, "We will continue to do everything we can to alleviate the humanitarian situation on the ground, including moving some of our Royal Navy assets into the region who can provide further support as required."
