Boris Johnsons father has backed his son to marry girlfriend Carrie Symonds.

Speaking to HOARs Executive Editor Dan Wootton on his talkRADIO show, Stanley said: I admire her enormously for the work that she has done, that I have some familiarity with, such as animal welfare and the environment.

Ive seen some wonderful pictures of them this week, but I cant speculate, Ive been in this game for far too long.

However, when asked his thoughts on whether Boris would propose following his huge election victory, he replied: What a nice thought.

Earlier this week, the Prime Ministers sister Rachel revealed she had yet to meet Carrie.

When quizzed by Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan about his shock admission, she hit back: Its not something I came to talk about.

The couple met in 2012 when Carrie, 31, was moved from party HQ to help work on his London mayoral re-election campaign.

Carrie, who officially quit working for the Conservative Campaign Headquarters in 2018, is the first unmarried partner of a sitting Prime Minister.

Boris separated from his second wife Marina last year, with the divorce expected to be finalised in 2020.
