What happened?
Tory MP William Wragg has revealed he was targeted in a honeytrap where he sent naked photos of himself to a user on dating app Grindr and was then manipulated into sharing colleagues' phone numbers.
Details of the incident
Mr. Wragg, who is gay, expressed feeling embarrassed after being targeted. He disclosed to The Times that the individual had compromising material on him and kept pressuring him for more information. Despite giving out some phone numbers, he eventually told the person to stop.
Expanding reach
Following the initial incident, other MPs, political staff, and a journalist received explicit messages from someone named "Charlie or Abi" in an attempt to lure them into a similar trap.
Police investigation
Leicestershire Police are currently investigating the scam, which commenced last month.
