Protests Erupt in Lebanon

As the war in Israel continues, protests have broken out in Lebanon, prompting the UK Foreign Office to issue a warning to Brits in the country.

Fears of Spillover

Ministers are concerned that the conflict involving Hamas could spill over into Lebanon at any moment, as the Iranian-backed group Hezbollah is active on the country's border with Northern Israel.

Foreign Office Advisory

The Foreign Office has advised Brits against all travel to Lebanon and has urged those currently in the country to leave immediately while commercial options are still available.

US Embassy Targeted

During the protests, demonstrators set fire to a guard tower at the US Embassy in Beirut, adding to the ongoing violence in the Middle East.

Day of Rage

The protests were sparked by a call from Hezbollah for people across the Arab world to demonstrate at Israeli embassies, which they referred to as a "day of rage."

Violence Erupts

Scuffles between demonstrators and Lebanese security forces occurred outside the US embassy in the Beirut suburb of Awkar, with stones thrown and a building set on fire. Protesters also threw rocks and Molotov cocktails, resulting in the guard tower being set ablaze.
