Mary Berry asks Kate Middleton to squirt on her cake during A Berry Royal Christmas and viewers get the giggles

VIEWERS had a serious case of the giggles this evening, after the nation sat down to watch Kate Middleton and Prince William appear on Mary Berry’s A Berry Royal Christmas.

Fans couldn’t contain themselves after baking queen Mary asked FUTURE Queen Kate to “squirt on her cake” during the show.

The former Great British Bake Off judgeteamed up with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge for a one-off show,A Berry Royal Christmas which aired tonight on BBC One.

And during the show, 84-year-old Mary asked Kate to help decorate some cup cakes.

Holding out a piping bag filled with cream cheese icing, Mary asked: “Do you want to have a squirt on a cake?”

It certainly caught the attention of the British viewers at home, with several taking to Twitter to giggle at Mary’s choice of words.

Viewers couldn’t contain their laughter

One tweeted: “Oh Mary… asking Kate if she wants to squirt over a cake!”

While another wrote: “Squirt on a cake?! She’s going to be Queen!”

Another called it an “iconic” telly moment, writing: “Mary Berry asking Kate Middleton if shed like to have a little squirt is ICONIC.”

Meanwhile others admitted they “couldn’t stop giggling” at the scene.

The showfollows Kate and Wills as they visit charities they support along with Mary, with the trio cooking up some delicious bakes along the way.

During the programme, Kate admits one of Prince Louis’ first words was “Mary” and says the prince would “recognise” the baking legend after seeing her on the Cambridge bookshelf.

The mum-of-three also reveals how Prince Louis loves beetroot – and in response, Mary bakes a “decadent” beetroot chocolate cake which she “hopes Louis will enjoy”.

The trio also hosted a Christmas party at the end of the show

The baking queen joinedKateandWilliamon four special visits to charities the royal couple support and meets the inspiring people whose lives have been helped, particularly at Christmas time.

They travel to Liverpool to visit The Brink, the UK’s first dry bar set up by Action on Addiction, that provides a safe space for those suffering with addiction.

Mary also joins The Duchess behind the scenes at RHS Wisley to learn more about Kate’s commitment to the early years in raising happy and healthy children.

The baking guru also visited The Passage with Will, which is the UK’s largest resource centre for homelessness.

At the end of the show, the couple host a Christmas party where they compete to make the best festive roulade. They’re joined by British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain who helps out Mary in the kitchen.

And viewers were overwhelmed at the show, with hundreds taking to social media to praise the couple.

Many said they were “in tears”, describing the couple as “humble and down to earth” and claiming Will would make “an amazing king”.

One wrote: “How wonderful are Catherine and William – the future of the monarchy is safe in their hands.”

While another said: “Why am I crying so much at #ABerryRoyalChristmas? What a wonderful programme! I just love Wills & Kate.”

“Mary and Kate should have a talk show. I dont know if its the cake or the lovely families telling their stories but it is all very emotional,” tweeted another.

A Very Berry Christmas is now available to watch on BBC iPlayer and will be repeated on Monday December 23, at 12pm.
