SHE is easily one of the most famous women in the world, but it seems even the Queen is in need of some ID occasionally.

Back in 1991 she was almost refused entry to the Windsor Horse show after a guard failed to recognise the monarch.

The Queen was almost refused entry to the Windsor Horse Show in 1991 (pictured) after a guard mistook her for “some old dear”

According to Hello! the Queen arrived at the annual event was told by a member of security Sorry love, you can’t come in without a sticker.

Apparently unfazed by his mistake, the Queen simply replied, I think if you check, I will be allowed to come in!”

The guard later admitted that he thought that she was some old dear who had got lost.

This is not the first time that the Queen has slipped under the radar.

She was unfazed by the guard and told him that she was allowed without a badge

In August it was revealed that a group of hapless tourists asked Her Majesty if she had ever met herself, after she went unrecognised during a low-key walk near Balmoral.

Her former protection officer Richard Griffin told how the 93-year-old once went for a stroll in tweeds and a headscarf – and looked so unlike her usual self a group of American tourists failed to recognise her.

Speaking toThe Times, Richard saidthe Queendidn’t want to blow her cover at the time.

She went along with the tourists as they questioned whether she lived in the area, replying that she had a house nearby.

When they asked her if she’d ever met the Queen, Her Maj slyly replied: “No, but this policeman has,” gesturing towards Mr Griffin.

Richard – who worked closely with the monarch for more than 30 years – said the group then moved on, having no idea who they’d just met.
