Iain hopes the new storyline will be relatable for viewers adding: “It’s a huge story we can tell with them right at the heart of it, very relatable and very teenage.

“I’m hoping it’s the kind of story that shocks a bit and provokes awkward conversations in front of the TV.”

He hopes to bring generations together and encourage talking about

He continued: “It has cross generational appeal of Corrie younger people might sit and watch it with their nana, this story I think will encourage conversations you’d never normally have in that cross generational way cos its tricky tonal territory.

“I’m pleased with it, working with charities to make sure
we get the detail right and fundamentally its just about those brilliant young actors being the superstars they are, then reaching out into the wider street through people
who are connected to them.”

Some previous storylines involving the younger cast included Asha Alahan’s private pictures getting leaked, Summer Spellman getting diagnosed with diabetes and Kelly Neelan’s trial.

The producer recalled Seb’s murder and how there were major consequences for all the residents in the street.

The tragedy caused shockwaves through Weatherfield, which is what he aims to do with the new Spring storyline also.

He said: “Seb and Nina ostensibly about an assault on a teenager that drew in Roy, Abi, a whole cross generational group of characters.

“Those are our best stories, the ones that don’t live in one demographic corner. This is exactly one of those.

“Huge stuff for those directly involved then parents, loved ones, families, extended friendship groups and ripples spread out across the whole show.”
