CORONATION Street fans are disgusted with Beth Tinker after she reported Gemma Winter to social services.
The factory machinist and all-round unpleasant busybody – who is played by actress Lisa George in the ITV soap – laid in to struggling Gemma for taking a break while babysitting tonight with disastrous consequences.
Bertie took a pack of Gemma’s anti-depressants out of her bag
The youngster had eaten five of them and was rushed to hospital
Spotting Gemma in the cafe enjoying a quiet brew, Beth was inexplicably furious: “What are you doing here? where’s Bertie? You’re supposed to be looking after him aren’t you?”
“He’s with my mam,” Gemma answered.
Beth ranted: “Are you kidding me? She can’t even look after herself. Daniel paid you to look after him not some ageing hippy.”
Instead of hitting back full force as she normally would, Gemma looked dejected and replied meekly: “Don’t talk about mam like that.”
But Beth carried on ranting: “I can’t believe you’d swan off to the cafe and leave other people’s kids with someone they don’t even know. I bet she’s not even DBS checked.”
Gemma picked up her bag and said: “Fine then, I’ll go if that’s what you want.”
“Yeah, I do,” snapped Beth completely oblivious to how much Gemma was clearly struggling.
Walking back to her house Gemma began crying and couldn’t bring herself to go back through the door.
By the time she managed to get through Gemma was exhausted and at breaking point.
She ended up lying down for a minute but ended up falling asleep leaving all the kids to their own devices.
And when Bernie walked in with Daniel and Daisy they were horrified to find Bertie with a pack of Gemma’s anti-depressants.
He had eaten five of them and was rushed to hospital and while he was lucky enough to be fine, Daniel was understanding.
Until Beth arrived and began dripping poison about Gemma and saying she shouldn’t be allowed near kids and that something had to be done.
Later in the pub he told Gemma he would have to find another childminder but he wouldn’t be taking it any further – though it became clear that Beth had.
Gemma received a call from social services and she was terrified her kids were going to be taken off her.
Viewers were absolutely disgusted with Beth’s actions.
One wrote: “Beth is absolutely vile when is someone gonna give her a slap. It won’t be soon enough.”
A second said: “Cue bolshie nosey Beth calling social services.”
