CORONATION Street fans are in shock after Spider Nugent revealed a massive secret in tonight’s episode.

The eco warrior – who is played by actor Martin Hancock in the ITV soap – has been hiding a huge secret that no-one expected.

His colleague called him Detective Constable Nugent in Monday’s Corrie

However after explaining that his marriage was over to Toyah, the pair reunited and shared a kiss on the flat balcony.

Imran’s mum Saira spotted Toyah kissing Spider on the balcony and furiously went to the police.

She insisted that Toyah must have been having an affair behind Imran’s back – and that it proved motive for her murder.

However as she reported it to the detective, there was a flicker of recognition behind her eyes when she named Spider.

And it was soon revealed why.

At the end of the episode as Toyah told her sister how she could trust Spider with anything.

However across Weatherfield he was meeting up with the police detective.

“What do you want?” he said, before she dropped the bombshell truth.

“There’s no need to be so defensive Spider, or should that be Detective Constable Nugent?” she said revealing Spider is a secret police officer.

The officer blackmailed Spider – telling him to get Toyah to open up about what happened to Imran.

She told him: “Get her talking about her husband, I want to know everything – she killed a man.

“If I let on you’re helping a murderer walk free, your case and your career are both dead. Is she worth it?”

Viewers are in shock at the twist.

One wrote: “Wow, spider is a cop, I never saw that coming!”
