Sam Mitchell is Back!
After a year away, EastEnders fans will be thrilled to hear that Sam Mitchell, played by Kim Medcalf, is set to make a dramatic return to the popular soap. Sam left Albert Square in April to run a hotel in Spain, but now she's checking back into her East London roots.
Reuniting with Family
Sam's return will not only shake up the square but also the lives of her son Ricky and new granddaughter Charli Slater. Ricky is set to become a father, and Sam is determined to be there to support him. Despite needing the cash, Ricky didn't take his mother's decision to leave well, but they shared a heartfelt goodbye before Sam got a taxi to the airport.
Not a Permanent Goodbye
Viewers were left upset when Sam left the show, but it was never confirmed as a permanent exit. Showrunners have now confirmed that Sam Mitchell will be returning to Walford at some point. Actress Kim Medcalf previously played the iconic character from 2002-2005, and then Danniella Westbrook reprised the role in 2009. In April 2022, Kim returned to the role for the first time in 17 years.
