EMMERDALE’s Victoria Sugden was relieved as Wendy finally admitted her son Lee had raped her tonight.
That was not all as Vic pleaded with Luke to keep away and focus on supporting his grieving mother.
Tonight’s episode began as Wendy’s second son Luke decided to move back in with his mum.
He has also just landed a job as chef at the Woolpack, seemingly standing in for head chef Marlon, who is struggling in prison awaiting trial for the murder of Graham Foster.
Luke then offered to watch Victoria’s baby Harry as she was heading into town with Diane to see a therapist.
After her initial reluctance, Luke convinced Vic to agree to leaving her baby with him, especially as his mum was at work.
That didn’t last long as Wendy finished work early and convinced her son to take Harry for a walk in a bid to stop him from crying.
Things then took an unexpected turn as Victoria’s bag fell off the sofa and out popped her journal.
Wendy, against her better judgement, picked it up and slowly began to make her way through all the messages Vic had written.
The nurse wasn’t able to read for long, as Vic came in entered and caught her red-handed.
A dismayed Victoria, ignored Wendy’s apology for the invasion of privacy and yelled at her to stay away from her and baby Harry.
As Vic was ready to storm out and track down Luke, Wendy uttered the words she has been wanting to hear her say for months, as she said: “I know he [Lee] raped you,” which stopped the sous-chef dead in her tracks.
The pair, who have been at loggerheads since Vic was assaulted, had a heart-to-heart in which Wendy said she tried to ignore the doubts she had about her son, until she reached a point where she just could not do it anymore.
Along with realising how loved Victoria was and thinking it absurd that she would lie about something so horrific, Wendy knew her son had done wrong, but also admitted that she could never stop loving him.
Their conversation was interrupted by Diane and Luke, and Vic demanded Wendy tell them that Lee is a rapist, but she could not find the courage to repeat those words.
Diane urged her step-daughter to leave the house and begged her to stay away from them.
Luke went after Victoria and said he would call her later, which was met with rejection by Vic.
She then explained to Luke she needs space away from both him and Wendy, and because the situation surrounding Lee abusing Vic has made things too complicated, they can never be together.
