MANPREET Sharma hasn’t been the biggest fan of her partner’s daughter, Naomi Walters.
But as the latter faces justice, the Emmerdale GP decides to take action in her favour and approaches Nicola King.
Manpreet Sharma wants to help Naomi Walters avoid prison
She does so by trying to manipulate Nicola King
But she could be making the situation worse for Naomi
While vicar Charles Anderson was ready to accept his daughter into his life with open arms, Manpreet (played by Rebecca Sarker) was more reluctant to do so.
She briefly feuded with Naomi (Karene Peter), even accusing her of assaulting Charles and comparing her to serial killer Meena Jutla.
But once it was revealed that Charles had actually accidentally hurt himself, Manpreet decided to make an effort with Naomi.
Next week, she even takes a stand for her but goes to drastic and unlawful lengths to stop Naomi from going to prison.
Naomi faces trial for her role in Nicola King’s attack next week.
The Café Main Street co-owner played by Nicola Wheeler recognised Naomi’s voice when she applied for a job.
Coming up, Manpreet makes a bad situation much worse by attempting to manipulate Nicola into speaking favourably about Naomi in court.
Upon seeing that her tricks haven’t worked, Manpreet fears that her interaction with Nicola will be the final nail in the coffin for Naomi.
This wouldn’t be the first time Manpreet interferes with legal business.
When Liam Cavanagh pushed Meena Jutla off of the same bridge his own daughter was thrown from, falling to her death, Manpreet was willing to lie to the police.
She claimed her colleague had been defending himself from the criminal when he, in fact, attacked her in a fit of rage for Leanna’s murder.
While the impact of her actions remains to be seen, Nicola slowly loses all hope to see the gang that attacked her get justice.
When Naomi’s barrister runs rings around Nicola on the stand, she’s left with this possibility as she’s reminded that her case against Naomi is lacking credible evidence.
Nicola later roils at the injustice of what she will do if her attackers walk free.
The trial eventually comes to an end with the judge urging the jury to assess the evidence presented to them and Nicola is far from optimistic.
She later feels exhausted and fed up while Naomi receives the support of her brother Ethan and her father Charles.
Emmerdale airs from Monday to Friday at 7.30pm on ITV.
