Hollyoaks heartthrob David Tag has opened up about his decision to decline an offer to appear on the popular show Celebs Go Dating. The 38-year-old actor, best known for his role as Sylver McQueen on the Channel 4 soap, revealed that he turned down the opportunity because he felt it wasn't the right career move for him.
A Different Path
Before meeting his partner Abi Harison in 2019, Tag was presented with the chance to join the cast of Celebs Go Dating. However, he ultimately decided against it. "I was kind of busy with work," he explained. "And then also I wasn't sure if it might have been the best career move."
A Growing Family
Tag and Harison now have two sons together, Reuben and Kasper. Their relationship has undoubtedly played a role in Tag's decision-making process when it comes to his career. Had he chosen to do Celebs Go Dating, their story may have taken a different turn.
Other Opportunities
Since his character was killed off in Hollyoaks last year, Tag has received offers to appear on other reality TV shows. He revealed that he has had meetings with Dancing on Ice, although it didn't work out for this year. However, there is potential for him to participate in the show next year. He also mentioned that he is in talks for a possible appearance on Big Brother.
Considering the Options
When asked about his decision-making process, Tag admitted that the potential income from these shows does factor into his considerations. "It depends what the money is," he replied. However, he emphasized that he is cautious and weighs the pros and cons of each opportunity before making a decision.
Busy Festive Season
While he contemplates his next career move, Tag will be busy performing in the pantomime Jack And The Beanstalk at Rochdale's Middleton Arena. He will be taking on the role of the villainous Fleshcreep from December 16th to the 29th. Tag explained that he opted for a shorter panto run this year to spend more time with his family during the holiday season.
As Tag continues to navigate his career and family life, it remains to be seen what exciting opportunities lie ahead for this talented actor.
