An actress from the popular British soap opera, EastEnders, has recently made a major career change, diverting from her acting roots 11 years after her appearance on the show.

The Journey on EastEnders

Preeya Kalidas, now 43, portrayed the character Amira Masood on EastEnders from 2009 to 2012. Prior to her role on the soap opera, Preeya had also starred in the renowned 2002 movie "Bend It Like Beckham". Amira Masood, Amira, who eventually married Syed Masood, played an essential part in a gripping storyline on the show.

A Heartbreaking Departure

However, love took a different turn for the character of Amira after her marriage. Despite the couple agreeing to start a family, Syed became distant and eventually confessed his love for Christian, portrayed by John Partridge. This resulted in Amira leaving her husband and departing the show, devastating soap viewers.

The Return and Final Exit

Amira made a reappearance the following year, revealing to fans that she had been pregnant with Syed's child when she left. Nonetheless, her quest to reunite with her husband proved unsuccessful, and she ultimately left Walford for Birmingham with their daughter, bidding a final farewell to EastEnders.

A Shift Towards Music

Following her departure from the soap opera, Preeya Kalidas shifted her focus to pursue a career in music. The talented star released singles such as "Shimmy" during her time on EastEnders, followed by "Don't Give Up" and "Can't Live Without You" in 2014. She went on to release a studio album a year later. Preeya also showcased her musical prowess as she took on the role of Pinky in the stage adaptation of Bend It Like Beckham.

A Recent Hospital Visit

Recently, Preeya made headlines once again after a gym accident left her in need of medical attention. The British actress, known for her role on EastEnders, injured her finger and required a trip to the hospital. Despite the pain and blood, she maintained a positive attitude and expressed her gratitude for the NHS staff who took care of her.

A Reunion with Co-Star Marc Elliott

Adding to the excitement of EastEnders fans, Preeya had a chance encounter with her former on-screen husband, Marc Elliott, who played the role of Syed Masood. The pair reunited during a casual outing at a restaurant, sparking nostalgia and delight among the show's dedicated viewers.
