EVELYN Plummer gets a huge shock when one of her secrets is on the verge of being exposed.

Coronation Street welcomes Claire Sweeney this week as she takes on the role of Cassandra Plummer as drama continues to unfold.

Cassandra Plummer rocks up Weatherfield

Her mother Evelyn was hoping to keep her a secret

It all begins when Cassie is hospitalised after an overdose

1. Cassie hides dark secret

Evelyn (portrayed by Maureen Lipman) discovers she’s got Freddie whilst Roy Cropper (David Neilson) takes Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King) to a meeting of the Historical Society and she’s less than impressed.

Roy recently underwent a life-saving operation and is slowly recovering.

His friend Evelyn, on the other hand, has struggled with feelings of jealousy after she spotted Yasmeen at Roy’s bedside in hospital and is trying to keep the peace.

But in later scenes, Evelyn grumbles to her grandson Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) about Roy spending time with Yasmeen, while someone watches unbeknown to them.

It’s soon revealed that Evelyn’s daughter Cassie Plummer has managed to find them.

Following Tyrone’s advice, Evelyn steals herself and invites Yasmeen and Roy to join her later at the Bistro.

As Evelyn heads home, she spots Cassie across the street but chooses to ignore her.

On her way to the bistro, she receives a call which stops her in her tracks.

As Roy and Yasmeen wait for Evelyn, she hurries into A&E and explains that her daughter, Cassandra Plummer, has been admitted as an emergency.

Cassie Plummer is none other than Tyrone’s biological mother who was said to have passed.

Evelyn’s lying could finally be coming to light next week.

After finding out Cassie remains in hospital, Evelyn receives a call from the hospital, but chooses to ignore it.

She eventually calls at the hospital only to discover Cassie has discharged herself.

Evelyn returns home to be met by Tyrone who reveals that someone called Cath has come to see her.

She enters the living room and is horrified to see Cassie grinning at her from the sofa.

When Tyrone enquires how they know each other, Evelyn’s thrown into panic.

But how will she respond?

While this remains to be seen, Cassie’s sudden arrival in the cobbles could be a cause for concern.

With many newcomers usually hiding deep and dark secrets, one could speculate this could also be the case for Cassie.

Could she be involved in a dangerous criminal world?

Sarah finds out she’s pregnant

2. Baby fight rocks Weatherfield

Speaking of criminals, Damon Hay (Ciarán Griffiths) could be given a shock of his own after sleeping with Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien).

After being at loggerheads with him on the topic of children, Sarah told her husband Adam (Sam Robertson) that she was ready to have a child with him.

This also followed her insisting she wanted to focus on her career at the Underworld factory.

But when he was finally told the truth about Sarah and Damon, the solicitor left the home he shared with and their marriage seems to be headed straight for the rocks.

Could a baby change things?

This week, Sarah joins Dee-Dee Bailey (Channique Sterling-Brown) in the Rovers.

As she takes a sip of her wine, she baulks and worried she might be pregnant, hurries out.

Back at home Sarah looks at her positive pregnancy test in total shock.

Stealing herself, she hands Adam the pregnancy test and admits that she doesn’t know who the father is as it could be either him or Damon.

Adam reels in shock, well aware that he wanted to build a family with Sarah – but how will he react?

Could rage get the best of him once again?

Sarah will have to determined who the father of her baby is but, if it was to be Damon, could her and Adam have a bitter fight on their hands?

Will Sarah and Adam stick together?

Or will Sarah reach the conclusion Damon is the only man for her?

Will Stephen Reid be exposed?

3. Two new victims for serial killer

Elsewhere in the cobbles, Elaine Jones (played by Paula Wilcox) fell head over heels for Stephen Reid (Todd Boyce), firmly convinced she’s found the perfect man for her.

She was over the moon when he seemed ready to settle down with her as he decided they should get married.

Although they kept their engagement a secret, the pair eventually revealed they were to get hitched and they moved into their own Redbank Apartment.

Unfortunately, cracks have recently begun to appear within the relationship as Stephen is adamant on taking over the Underworld factory after Carla Connor decided to put her business up for sale.

Elaine, on the other hand, is reluctant to invest any money in the factory and wants to focus on their retirement.

Things could go from bad to worse between them as Elaine is due to make a shock discovery about the man she shares her life with.

It all begins as Elaine practises her Tai-Chi exercises and Stephen snaps at her before heading off for work.

Once he’s gone, Elaine is worried about his low mood.

In later scenes, Stephen reveals that it’s Canada Day, prompting Elaine to come up with an idea.

Determined to win Owen Longford (Ben Hull) round, Stephen invites him for lunch.

In the flat, Owen levels with Stephen and admits that he doesn’t trust him and suspects he’s using Seagull Ltd to siphon money from Underworld.

To top it all off, Owen is convinced Stephen wants Jenny, his love interest, for himself.

Stephen tries to argue but the door suddenly opens.

Elaine, Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls), Sarah Platt and Michael Bailey (Ryan Russell) burst in waving flags, wishing him a happy Canada Day.

Stephen paints on a smile, but he’s taken aback to clock Elaine scowling at him.

With Owen and Elaine both slowly rumbling his plans, could Stephen be tempted to get rid of them?

Could his next move involve a double murder as he kills two cumbersome witnesses?

Coronation Street airs every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 8pm on ITV.
