STRICTLY Come Dancing’s Will Mellor and his pro dancer partner Nancy have been accused of being ‘over the top’ with their tears following their exit from the show.

The actor and his partner were eliminated from the BBC One contest on Monday night following a surprise dance off alongside Fleur East and Vito Coppola.

Will and Nancy were left sobbing on It Takes Two

Fans have complained that Will’s tears may not have been genuine

After their exit, the pair broke down in tears on It Takes Two when they chatted to show host Rylan.

Pro dancer Nancy appeared upset throughout the chat and was soon left struggling to hold in her tears following watching a ‘best bits’ video of their time on the show.

Will could also be seen wiping away tears from his eyes after watching a video of supportive messages from his loved ones as Nancy clutched at a tissue she had used to wipe her tears away.

Nancy held her head in her hands as she said: “I’m so grateful, thank you to this man [Will], I have had the best journey.”

However fans of the show have been critical of the display and labelled the pair ‘over-the-top’.

Writing online, one Strictly viewer said: “I can understand them being upset straight after the elimination but the way they both were on ITT really made me like them less. It was so over the top.”

Another agreed, writing: “This is what I’ve been saying about him all along, he lays it on so thick. Like when he was ‘ill’ to the point he couldn’t dance well or talk but then on the Sunday show was fine.”

A third fan spoke of their shock at the outburst claiming they had never seen an axed couple react in that way.

They said: “It was very odd, I’ve never seen a pro or a celeb that upset before. They’re usually more composed than that.”

As a fourth added: “I know it was a shock but she was visually distraught and I think as a pro she should have held her composure a little better while on ITT.”

In the dance-off, Fleur and her dance partner Vito Coppola performed their Charleston to Tu Vuo’ Fa L’Americano by Fiorello, while Will and his dance partner Nancy Xu performed their Couples’ Choice to a 90s Manchester inspired medley, in a bid to impress the judges and make it through to next week’s Grand Final.

Both Craig Revel Horwood and Motsi Mabuse opted to save Fleur, while Anton Du Beke chose to save Will and Nancy.

Shirley had the casting vote which ultimately sent Will home.
