Former Love Islander Zara McDermott, who recently joined Strictly Come Dancing, has shared her thoughts on how she managed to avoid the show's notorious curse. In an interview on the Saving Grace Podcast, Zara expressed her disbelief in the idea of the "Strictly curse" and emphasized the strong friendship she developed with her dance partner.

Avoiding the "Strictly Curse"

Zara McDermott, known for her appearance on Love Island, has discussed her experience on Strictly Come Dancing and how she managed to avoid the show's infamous curse. The "Strictly curse" refers to the tendency for romantic relationships to develop between contestants and their dance partners while on the show. However, Zara explained that she formed a close friendship with her partner and couldn't understand how the curse could exist in such a camera-filled environment.

Speaking on the podcast, Zara said, "I can't understand how there is a Strictly curse. I became really good friends with my partner."

A Sibling-Like Relationship

Zara also revealed that she and her dance partner, Graziano Di Prima, had a relationship similar to that of siblings. She admitted to occasional disagreements but attributed them to the nature of working closely together. Zara pointed out that the constant presence of cameras in the room made it unlikely for anything romantic to develop.

"You very quickly become like brother and sister, and you kind of have that bickery relationship. Also, there are cameras in the room most of the time with you," Zara explained.

She added, "For me, it was not the environment for anything like that to ever happen. I guess it has happened in the past, but people have affairs and relationships in the office all the time, so I feel like proportionately it probably doesn't happen that differently."

Reunion with Boyfriend Sam Thompson

Zara McDermott and her boyfriend, I'm A Celeb winner Sam Thompson, were recently reunited after he spent over a month on the reality TV show. Sam emerged as the winner of this year's I'm A Celeb series, beating boxer Tony Bellew. The Made In Chelsea star was visibly thrilled to be back with Zara, whom he has been dating on-and-off since 2019.

Zara had been supporting Sam throughout his time on I'm A Celeb, showing her support on her Instagram page. Although she didn't travel to Australia for the show, she organized a celebration party at their home to cheer him on as he was crowned King of the Jungle 2023.

The couple's reunion at the airport was a heartwarming moment for both of them.
