STRICTLY Come Dancing’s Tony Adams got emotional on It Takes Two as he opened up about his difficult journey with sobriety.

Joined by pro partner Katya Jones on spin-off It Takes Two, Tony admitted his time on the show proved to be a massive emotional journey, and fought back tears as he spoke.

Following a highlights reel of his journey, Tony frankly admitted he was glad his appearance on the show opened doors for those struggling with mental health and sobriety.

Speaking to Rylan, he was held by Katya as he said: “It’s been amazing, mate. This has been great. It’s been fun coming on here every week and chatting to you guys.

“It’s been really fun. I’ve loved this part – more than the dancing! I can do a lot of talking I’m not sure about the dancing but this has been incredible.”

“I came into the show with one message to get the awareness of mental health and addiction out there to say 26 years ago right, I should be dead. You know what I mean?,” he bluntly admitted.

“I didn’t want to be on the planet, and now I’m dancing on this show.”

Following the airing of his exit on Sunday, Tony released a statement on social media that read: “There comes a point when you can no longer ignore medical advice, and very sadly my point came tonight.

“Sorry I couldn’t dance off against my friend @TylerWestt, but thank you thank you to ALL @bbcstrictly who made this into an unbelievable joyful, tough and exhilarating 8 weeks.

“I will miss you all. And, well I have no words for @Mrs_katjones.

“She is my absolute rock, queen, nemesis, HERO. I love her to bits. Keep dancing. Tomorrow I’ll be getting the leaf blower out and back to normality. With sequins.”

Strictly Come Dancing continues Saturday on 6.30pm on BBC One.
