Super Mario Bros. Wonder is a visually stunning, high-budget Nintendo game that brilliantly fits into the classic 2D format. It showcases all the inventiveness and imagination seen in the Super Mario Galaxy games, brought to life in the style of a traditional 2D Mario adventure. The game is filled with new ideas and inventive levels that will keep players engaged and excited.
Online and Offline Multiplayer
Not only does Super Mario Bros. Wonder offer an engaging single-player experience, but it also includes both online and offline multiplayer modes. So, whether you prefer playing alone or with friends, this game has got you covered.
A Breath of Fresh Air
In our previous preview of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, we mentioned how the New Super Mario Bros. series had become visually stale. But playing more of Super Mario Bros. Wonder made us realize that this staleness also applied to the gameplay. The classic 2D Mario games are undoubtedly beloved, but they had become formulaic and predictable. Thankfully, Wonder breaks free from that mold and offers a refreshing experience that feels anything but formulaic.
Wonder Seeds and New Challenges
One of the key mechanics in Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the Wonder Seeds. These seeds transform stages into explosive set pieces, providing Mario and other playable characters with challenges and opportunities to collect blue coins. The gameplay remains simple and approachable, as we've come to expect from Mario games, but Wonder offers more opportunities for skilled players to showcase their abilities and navigate cleverly designed levels.
Badge Mastery Challenges
Super Mario Bros. Wonder introduces a new concept called Badge Mastery challenges. Badges are equippable items that redefine Mario's R-button spin, offering unique abilities such as a cap glider or a wall jump. Each Badge Mastery challenge takes the core concept and amps up the difficulty, with rotating platforms and other obstacles that require precision and strategy. These challenges provide a new level of difficulty for players who crave more intense gameplay.
A Nod to Classic Mario
Super Mario Bros. Wonder draws inspiration from the classic Super Mario World game. It incorporates hidden exits and introduces a plethora of new ideas into the 2D Mario platformer genre. Just like in Super Mario World, players will have the opportunity to explore levels multiple times to discover every Wonder Seed and hidden exit.
