I’m hooked on Vampire Survivors, but this game has me obsessed

After the massive success of Vampire Survivors, many games attempted to replicate its winning formula.

However, when a game like Vampire Survivors excels at what it does, it's difficult for others to surpass it.

That's why we were skeptical about Deep Rock Galactic: Survivors, despite our love for the original game.

But Funday Games has delivered one of the best Vampire Survivor-like games to date, putting a lot of thought into the project.

The team has taken key elements from Deep Rock Galactic, a popular game, and seamlessly integrated them into this new genre.

A Familiar Yet Refreshing Experience

Just like the original game, you'll dive into the depths, mine valuable resources, and fend off hordes of aliens.

Deep Rock Galactic: Survivors starts you off with the Scout class, with three more classes to unlock.

Each class comes with different starting loadouts, stats, and weapons, adding a lot of variety to the gameplay.

It's a promising start, and although players will crave more classes down the line, it's a great foundation for early access.

The classes in Survivors closely resemble their counterparts in the original game.

The Engineer can utilize turrets and drones, while the Gunner focuses on heavy weaponry.

These class dynamics seamlessly transition into the auto-shooter genre, and it's incredibly satisfying to fine-tune your build.

Delving into the Depths

As you mine for valuable resources in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivors, you'll notice that certain elements from the original game are integrated throughout.

Some resources will upgrade your character for the current run, while others can be invested between runs for permanent upgrades.

There are also intriguing side objectives that help enhance your weapons and other stats, adding even more variety.

Each milestone you achieve gives you a sense of accomplishment, even if you don't make it to the end.

In addition, there's a time restriction on runs, as enemies become stronger the longer you wait.

This means you must carefully balance resource gathering and avoiding being overwhelmed by enemies.

A Game-Changing Mechanic

Mining is the standout feature in Deep Rock Galactic: Survivors, allowing you to alter the environment to your advantage.

Creating corridors to funnel enemies through makes it easier to eliminate them, but it does take time.

This additional layer of tactics keeps the gameplay fresh and ensures you'll keep coming back for more.

We were impressed by how Survivors captures the charm and strengths of Deep Rock Galactic and translates them into a whole new genre.

In a highly competitive digital world, this game stands out for all the right reasons.
