Nintendo has just revealed an exciting free upgrade for one of the most beloved Mario games of all time. The upgrade, set to launch on Thursday, November 9, 2023, will offer fans even more content to dive into. Mario Kart 8 Deluxe already boasts an impressive 96 courses, and Wave 6 will add eight more courses across two new cups.
Wave 6: New Courses
The first new cup is the Acorn Cup, which includes two courses from the mobile game Mario Kart Tour: Rome Avanti and Piranha Plant Cover. While these courses are usually considered weaker, the Acorn Cup also features the popular DK Mountain from Mario Kart Double Dash and Daisy Circuit from Mario Kart Wii.
The second cup, called 'Spiny Cup', introduces Madrid Drive from Mario Kart Tour, as well as a fourth version of Rainbow Road from Mario Kart Wii. The cup also includes Bowser's Castle 3 from Super Mario Kart and Rosalina's Ice World from Mario Kart 3DS.
New Characters
In addition to the new courses, Wave 6 brings four more playable characters to Mario Kart 8 Deluxe. Fans can look forward to racing as Pauline, Peachette, Diddy Kong, and Funky Kong for the first time. These characters offer a fresh dynamic to the game, with two medium-weight and two heavy-weight options.
This marks the final wave of the Booster Course Pass, which brings the total number of courses in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe to an impressive 96. The Booster Course Pass is included in the higher tier of the Nintendo Switch Online subscription service, but can also be purchased separately.
