Typically, second hand stores like Cex offer a maximum of £140 ($117) for a boxed 1TB PlayStation 4 Pro. However, if your console has a special download, you could potentially fetch around £500 ($640), as one fortunate eBay seller discovered.
The Legend of P.T. Silent Hill
The reason for this surge in value lies in a rare demo game called P.T. Silent Hill. This demo was only available for a limited time and was eventually pulled from circulation. P.T. served as an interactive teaser for the highly anticipated Silent Hills games, with renowned Japanese game developer Hideo Kojima and filmmaker Guillermo del Toro involved in its creation.
Due to the cancellation of the Silent Hills title and the subsequent removal of P.T., the game was never released in physical form. As a result, only those who had already downloaded it were able to continue playing.
Desperate fans who want to experience P.T. have resorted to purchasing PS4 consoles with the demo pre-installed, often at a premium price. While there is no guarantee of receiving £500, having P.T. on your console could fetch you more than what a second hand store would offer.
Recent sales of PS4 Pro consoles with P.T. include one that sold for £500 ($640) in November, another for £290 ($371) in November, and a third for £450 ($575) in December.
