Microsoft and Xbox Revamp Rewards Program, Making It Harder to Earn Cash Back

As the new year rolls in, companies are making changes to their policies, and Xbox players are feeling the impact. Microsoft and Xbox have recently made changes to their reward scheme, making it more difficult for players to earn cash back on their products.

The Microsoft Rewards scheme was designed to help players earn money by using Microsoft products, including Xbox. Previously, one of the easiest ways to earn rewards was by playing games on Xbox. However, with the 2024 update, earning these rewards has become significantly more challenging.

Players could spend their reward points on gift cards for a variety of stores, including Game Pass subscriptions, Xbox Store cards, and even external stores like Amazon. But now, earning these points through Xbox has become much harder.

More Difficult to Earn Points through Xbox

One example of the changes is the reduction in points for playing a game from Xbox Game Pass every day. Previously, players would earn 50 points for completing this daily quest, but now they only receive 5 points.

Xbox has introduced bigger bonuses to compensate for this, such as the Quest Completionist reward. However, earning this reward is significantly more challenging. Players must play a Game Pass game every single day in the month and earn achievements on at least half of those days.

Controversial Removal of Game-Specific Rewards

Another change that has stirred controversy among fans is the removal of game-specific rewards. Instead, all rewards are now more generalized, such as 'play a game' or 'earn a reward.'

While players are not pleased with these changes, Microsoft has indicated that they have no plans to reverse them.
