DANCING On Ice fans were left gutted this evening as Eddie ‘The Eagle’ Edwards got the boot – and have branded the show a fix.
The 60-year-old lost out on a place in the villa to Amber Davies after a tense skate off.
But those watching at home were not convinced by the decision and took to social media to complain – believed that Eddie performed better.
One person said: “Nonsense decision, Eddie is by far a better individual skater than Amber, he should have gone through based purely on skating.”
A second commented: “Absolute disgrace, thats me not watching any more, fix.”
While a third said: “It’s a con, Amber fluffed up at the end and did not skate on her own, and Chris saw it clearly, Eddie was robbed he was the better skater, plus he had to lift his partner. The competition is rigged. Unfair elimination.”
Eddie opened this week’s show by embracing his inner pop star as he skated to One Direction’s hit What Makes You Beautiful.
Dressed in a black and red checked shirt, the former Olympic ski jumper performed a rotating knee slide and twirls with his partner Vicky Ogden to secure a score of 33.5 – his highest of the series so far.
Judge Oti Mabuse thought it was a “brilliant” way to open the show as she felt it was “entertaining”.
Fellow judge Christopher Dean said: “I’m loving what you’re doing, I hope to see you in the semi-final.”
While Amber attempted the first one-arm rotating layout on the show to secure her top mark.
For her routine with her skating partner Simon Senecal to Waterloo by Abba, they donned 70s-inspired outfits.
Weir said he “loved it” as he felt it was “electric and exuberant”.
