DANCING On Ice guest star Mr Blobby wreaked havoc on last night’s live show – but behind the scenes the 90s telly icon was even worse.

The googly-eyed pink and yellow creature, who famously starred in Noel’s House Party, burst into the arena to help plug the show’s competition.

Judge Ashley Banjo had no idea what Mr Blobby was
Blobby has been causing mayhem for three decades

After a special introduction from hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield, he immediately fell into the judging panel, leaving Ashley stunned, before kissing each of the judges.

Blobby took a tumble as he dashed towards the camera and proceeded to flap around on his back on the ice.

Ashley’s look of sheer bewilderment wasn’t faked, according to the show’s creative director Dan Whiston.

The Diversity mastermind was genuinely terrified and had no idea what was going on.

Dan said: “If it looked like Mr Blobby caused chaos on camera, it was nothing compared to what he got up to off camera.

“Believe me, it was genuine shock on Ashley Banjo’s face. He wasn’t pretending. He was really freaked out by Mr Blobby as he didn’t know who he was!”

It was a night of high drama with Patsy Palmer becoming the latest celebrity to leave the competition.

Dan said of her exit: “She was a dream to work with and will be hugely missed.”

The choreographer, who won the show three times as a skater, is impressed with the rate at which the celebrities are improving and praised their bravery at trying difficult and dangerous moves.

He said: “Mollie was nervous before performing the dreaded headbanger with her skating partner Sylvain.

“The move was made even harder for Mollie as she took off from a back running edge, so she had to spend most training sessions wearing a helmet just in case it went wrong. Luckily it went all right on the night.

“Nile channelled his inner pop star this week putting on a daring and entertaining performance that saw him topping the leaderboard again. He’s been training really hard and is so close to pulling off an axel. I can’t wait.”

Dancing On Ice returns on ITV1 on Sunday at 6.30pm
