Reality Star Sheds Two Stone in Just Three Weeks
Joey Essex, former star of Towie, has revealed his impressive weight loss after appearing on the Australian version of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here!. The 33-year-old TV personality lost an incredible two stone during his three-week stint in the jungle.
First to Be Voted Out
Despite his drastic transformation, Joey was the first contestant to be voted out by the Australian public. Now, as the new UK series of I’m A Celebrity begins, Joey has taken to social media to share unseen images from his time on the show.
Jungle Weight Loss
In a topless mirror selfie taken in his hotel bathroom, Joey proudly displayed the weight he had lost. Captioning the photo, he wrote, “3 weeks later… Lost 2 stone. My first pic out of the Aussie jungle.”
Highly Paid Participant
Joey Essex was reportedly the highest paid star to take part in the Australian version of I’m A Celebrity. However, despite his hefty paycheck, he failed to win over the Australian audience and was voted out early.
Short-lived Romance
During his time on the show, Joey briefly sparked a romance with Miss Universe winner Maria Thatill. However, the relationship fizzled out once they left the jungle. In her exit interview, Maria explained, “Joey and I are friends, we’re flirty friends, and we agreed that the jungle under the microscope, it was just pushing things a little bit.”
Previous Success in UK Version
This was not Joey’s first time on I’m A Celebrity. He appeared on the UK version in 2013 and finished in fourth place. Westlife singer Kian Egan took home the crown that year.
