Sellers on eBay are in for a treat as the platform announces a fee shake-up starting today, April 8. Those looking to sell second-hand fashion will now enjoy free listing and final value fees, allowing them to keep more money in their pockets.
What's changing?
From today onwards, all charges, including listing and final value fees, will no longer apply to pre-owned fashion items. This move also exempts these items from eBay's new regulatory operating fee, giving sellers an extra boost.

Existing individual fashion listings, regardless of when they were listed, will benefit from this fee change. eBay's general manager of global fashion, Kirsty Keoghan, expressed enthusiasm for the shift, highlighting the opportunity for sellers to earn more money and reduce clothing waste.

As part of the updates, eBay is introducing AI-generated item descriptions for all UK sellers. This innovative solution aims to streamline the listing process by offering quick and attention-grabbing descriptions at the click of a button.
Understanding seller fees
While it's free to list up to 1,000 items per month on eBay, sellers will incur a 35p charge per listing after this limit. However, fees are only applicable upon a successful sale, with a final value fee currently set at 12.8% plus a fixed 30p charge per item sold.
Comparing fees with other platforms
eBay's fee structure is evolving over time, with the new regulatory fee bringing the total charges to 13.15% plus 30p. In contrast, platforms like Depop and Vinted have their own fee systems, making it crucial for sellers to weigh their options based on individual preferences and sales volume.
