Family Turns Island off the Coast of Anglesey into Luxury Holiday Property

A family who purchased Ynys Faelog off the coast of Anglesey, North Wales, transformed it into a luxurious six-bedroom property and holiday let, after buying it from a university that previously used it for nature studies.

Planning Red Tape Threatens Closure of Holiday Property

The family's £400-a-night holiday let is facing closure as council officials have launched an enforcement investigation due to a breach of planning control. The property was not officially changed from an education office to a holiday home, sparking the issue.

Retrospective Planning Application Submitted

Following the enforcement investigation, a retrospective planning application has been submitted for the change of the former office and teaching building into mixed-use as a dwelling and holiday let accommodation on Ynys Faelog, Menai Bridge. The application is considered a departure from the Local Development Plan due to the inclusion of a permanent residential dwelling.

No Impact on Existing Holiday Let Business

The planning issue does not currently affect the family's existing holiday let business on Ynys Faelog, which includes Ynys Faelog Cottage priced at £252 per night. The planning committee will now review the application before taking any further action.
