Diana Takacsova grew up in Slovakia with little money, but always had a fascination with driving big vehicles. Through hard work and determination, she has now found her dream job as a fuel tank driver for Hoyer, a firm specializing in bulk logistics.

At 34 years old, Diana earns a basic salary of nearly £55,000 a year, with the potential to earn up to £2,000 in bonuses. There are also plenty of job opportunities in the industry for those looking to follow a similar career path.
From Part-Time Jobs to Forklift Driver
As a teenager, Diana took on various part-time jobs, including selling ice cream and working on local farms. Her experience on farms gave her the opportunity to drive big machinery from a young age. After moving to the UK, she quickly secured a job driving a forklift truck at Circle Express.
Following Her Passion
Though Diana initially worked in an office role, she realized she missed driving and began researching the qualifications needed to become a truck driver. After obtaining her driving licenses, she joined Mixed Freight Services and eventually sent her CV to Hoyer, where she now works.
Advice for Aspiring Truck Drivers
Diana emphasizes that becoming a truck driver requires time, hard work, and commitment. However, having a "Class 1" license is key, and logistics firms are often more focused on attitude and willingness to learn rather than specific academic qualifications. Fitness and a can-do attitude are also crucial for success in the industry.

Diana wants to encourage women to pursue careers in traditionally male-dominated fields like truck driving. She also believes that anyone, regardless of their background, can find success in the logistics industry. As an ambassador for Generation Logistics, she is actively promoting awareness of the sector.
By following her passion and working hard, Diana has achieved her dream job as a fuel tank driver, proving that a fulfilling career is possible without a university degree.
Additionally, she is preparing to climb Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania next year to further challenge herself physically and mentally.
